Hello Devine Friend,
Today I'd like to talk about New Year's resolutions. I know this may sound a bit cliché but yes I'm going through with it and guess what? I've never made New Year's resolutions in my life!
I might have added 'things' to my 'wish list' for the year but nothing that I resolved to do.
Before I share my resolutions with you let me quickly say this:
There's a huge difference between wishing for things and resolving to do things.
A wish is something we make lightly to possibly protect ourselves from disappointment in case it doesn't happen or we fail to achieve it.
Whereas a resolution is something which, at the back of our minds we know that we need to make it happen no matter what.
This means, unlike a wish, we approach a resolution with a plan of action to help us achieve our goal.
Now I'm not saying the latter is guaranteed to happen but I'm saying when approached with a road map chances are no matter how many times we stray off the road we can still see where we're headed and therefore have the ability to refocus and get back on track towards our goal.
So my New Year's resolutions are:
1. Get my physical body healthy.
The reality is, I'm not getting any younger and this is the only temple I have so I need to look after it. My road map includes, going to the gym 3-4 times a week.
(I haven't had a gym membership for nearly 7 year!!!) so in preparations of this resolution I signed up with my local gym.
2. I'm going to write a book.
A little while ago I completed Masters degree in Writing. The course was really a vehicle that made it possible for me to emerge from a dark place of loss and grieving.
I won't get into that topic today but through writing and exchanging ideas with writing peers I discovered so much about myself and the world around me. And although I produced a manuscript for my final thesis, I think it's only now that I feel ready to pen my story-our stories down.
And the road map for this one is going to be a bit gentle. Like many, I'm also time poor but I'm going to start small. I'll be lying if I said I will write everyday, however I will jot down ideas and thoughts as they come to me everyday and set aside time to write on Sunday mornings. During this time I will correlate my weekly ideas and write as little or as much as I can.
3. I want to earn a living doing what I love and making a difference along the path.
This one is a little challenging and I had to stop for a minute and really think about it. Will I quit my day job - I cannot deny nor can I confirm but what I know for sure is that my intention is sent out to the universe. And all I have to do is work on my inner self through mindful-mindset so that my energy can vibrate at the right frequency to attract the places I need to be and people I need to be with.
You see the road map for this one is not external because I'm not responsible for other people's actions but my own so if I'm going to improve anything in my life it has to begin with me.
And those are my New Year's resolutions which I believe are realistic and achievable.
Now I need to show up everyday ready for the challenge.
Thanks for stopping by and see you real soon!

Have a happy day!
