Dorcas is a Producer, Writer, Director, Fine Artist and Artistic/Project Officer.
This incredible woman has many passions and is not afraid to explore them. She's passionate about storytelling, mindful wellbeing and empowering others through shared experiences.
Dorcas was born in South Africa, migrated to Melbourne, Australia 10 years ago where she now lives with her family in a South African - Croatian - Australian household.
Her interest in Film/TV has seen her fulfil an array of roles including but not limited to Production Assistant, Production Researcher, Art Department personnel, Head of Department (Costume Dept.) and Actor.
She also worked on the set of one of Australia’s biggest export, channel 11’s Neighbours for 7 years in the costume and digital department(s).
At the 2017 Multicultural Awards for Excellence, alongside three SBS reporters, Dorcas was recognized for her work as Founder/Producer and Presenter of OATV. Her Media Award from the Victorian Multicultural Commission acknowledges “outstanding reporting on issues of importance to diverse communities and reporting which contributes to Victoria’s cross cultural understanding” (VMC).
As a dynamic doer in the community, Dorcas is the Creative Producer/Coordinator for the vibrant annual event One Beat One Love, which forms part of Victorian Multicultural Commission's Cultural Diversity Week. She is also former Coordinator for the Nelson Mandela Day Celebrations in Melbourne.
Her work exceeds the African Australian community. In her role as Project Officer for Multicultural Arts Victoria, she recently worked on Mapping Melbourne - a two week long program that celebrates contemporary Asian Australian art. Dorcas is currently Programming Emerge in Yarra, a festival that celebrates the dynamic cultures that inform our diverse society through art.
Dorcas believes that Education is key to many doors and everyone should be given an opportunity to experience the power of education. She studied Fine Art in South Africa and recently completed Master of Arts in Writing through Swinburne University of Technology in Australia.
